The future of the casino app may not be a casino app at all.
Fanatics Betting and Gaming has launched Fanatics Sports & Casino, bringing sportsbook betting, online casino gaming and prediction markets into one mobile application with a shared account and loyalty system.
Launched on September 2, 2026, the platform automatically changes what customers can access according to their physical location.
Fanatics Sportsbook operates in 23 states plus Washington, D.C. Fanatics Casino is available in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia, while Fanatics Markets provides federally regulated event contracts across 22 states and four U.S. territories.
For CasinoAppReview, this is more than another app update.
Fanatics is effectively demonstrating a new architecture for U.S. gambling: One App, One Account, Multiple Gambling/Trading Products, One Loyalty Ecosystem
And that could become one of the most important mobile-gambling trends heading into 2027.
The Casino App Is Becoming an Ecosystem
Traditional gambling apps were built around individual products.
You downloaded a sportsbook to bet on sports.
You opened a casino app to play slots.
Prediction markets emerged as another separate category.
Fanatics is removing those boundaries.
CEO of Fanatics Betting and Gaming Matt King described the strategy as creating an experience that "travels with" the customer.
That phrase is important because the app itself remains constant while its functionality changes.
A customer traveling between U.S. states does not necessarily need to download another Fanatics product. Instead, location determines which modules become available.
The app essentially becomes a regulatory-aware shell around multiple real-money products.
How the Fanatics Super App Works
Segment | What It Offers |
Account | One Fanatics account |
Sports betting | Fanatics Sportsbook |
Online casino | Fanatics Casino |
Prediction markets | Fanatics Markets |
Location | Products dynamically enabled by jurisdiction |
Rewards | Shared FanCash balance |
Loyalty | Fanatics ONE |
Wider ecosystem | Merchandise, tickets and collectibles |
That last part differentiates Fanatics from a conventional gambling operator.
The customer relationship does not necessarily end when someone leaves the sportsbook or casino.
FanCash Could Be the Real Competitive Advantage
Fanatics says customers can earn FanCash from every eligible bet, trade and casino play.
That currency can then connect to the wider Fanatics ecosystem, including merchandise, tickets and collectibles.
Consider the customer journey:
1. Bet on an NFL game 2. earn FanCash 3. play casino 4. earn more FanCash 5. trade an event contract 6. redeem rewards for team merchandise or collectibles.
Most gambling loyalty systems attempt to keep customers within gambling.
Fanatics can potentially use gambling to strengthen a much broader sports-commerce relationship.
That makes the model particularly interesting from a retention perspective.
A traditional operator knows what you bet on.
Fanatics potentially knows the teams you follow, merchandise you buy, collectibles you value, events you trade, and games you play.
That creates enormous personalization potential.
It also creates significant responsibilities around customer data and responsible gambling.
Geolocation Is Becoming Part of the Interface
The most technologically interesting component may be something customers barely notice.
Fanatics has to determine where the customer is and then construct the appropriate product experience.
In Pennsylvania, for example, a user can access legal sportsbook and online casino products.
In a state without regulated online casino gaming, the casino module cannot simply operate because it exists elsewhere in the same application.
Prediction markets add another regulatory layer.
Fanatics Markets uses federally regulated event contracts and consequently has a different geographic footprint from conventional state-regulated gambling.
The result is effectively:
Same app + same account + different location = different product.
This is a major change in how gambling apps can be designed.
Historically, regulation defined which app entered a state.
Increasingly, regulation may define which part of an app activates within a state.
Prediction Markets Expand the Geographic Footprint
This is where the strategy becomes commercially significant.
Fanatics Sportsbook cannot legally operate everywhere.
Online casino is even more restricted, currently operating through Fanatics in only four states.
Prediction markets provide another potential route to customers.
Fanatics Markets is accessible in states including major markets where conventional online sports wagering remains unavailable, such as California and Texas.
That potentially allows Fanatics to maintain a real-money relationship with customers who cannot access its conventional sportsbook or casino.
If that customer later travels into another regulated jurisdiction, the same account can potentially unlock additional functionality.
This makes prediction markets more than a new product category.
They can become part of an operator's national customer-acquisition architecture.
But the Legal Risk Is Significant
There is an obvious complication.
The legal status of sports-related prediction markets is being fiercely contested.
The Ninth Circuit recently allowed Nevada to apply its gambling regulations to Kalshi's sports-event contracts, while the Third Circuit reached a materially different conclusion in the New Jersey litigation.
New Jersey has now asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene.
Fanatics is therefore building its unified model while one of the most important regulatory questions surrounding prediction markets remains unresolved.
That creates an interesting technological advantage.
If regulations change, Fanatics may not necessarily need to rebuild its entire consumer ecosystem.
It can theoretically alter which products appear in particular jurisdictions.
In other words, modular app architecture can become a regulatory tool.
The Responsible-Gambling Question Gets Harder
The super-app model also creates a challenge that deserves considerably more attention.
What happens when one customer can move between sports betting, casino, and prediction markets without leaving the same ecosystem?
Each activity may have different regulatory definitions, but from a behavioral perspective, the customer is continuously engaging with real-money risk.
That raises questions about whether responsible-gambling systems should analyze products individually or examine behavior across the entire account.
Suppose someone loses money betting on sports, switches to casino games and then begins aggressively trading event contracts.
Three product categories may be involved.
But there is still only one customer.
For CasinoAppReview, this should become an important future app-review criterion.
The strongest super apps should not merely unify wallets and rewards.
They should also unify risk detection and player-protection tools wherever regulation permits and requires it.
Prediction Markets Are Becoming Core Infrastructure
Fanatics' ambitions extend beyond simply integrating an existing third-party product.
,In July, Fanatics announced an agreement to acquire a Designated Contract Market and Derivatives Clearing Organization from BGC Group, bringing regulated exchange and clearing infrastructure closer to its own ecosystem.
Fanatics said the transaction would combine institutional exchange infrastructure with its consumer reach and accelerate the development of prediction markets.
That suggests prediction markets are not being treated as a temporary football-season experiment.
They are becoming part of the company's technology strategy.
2027 Forecast: The Battle Moves From Apps to Ecosystems
Fanatics is unlikely to be alone.
DraftKings has also moved toward a broader super-app strategy, and pressure from prediction-market companies such as Kalshi and Polymarket is forcing traditional gambling operators to rethink how their products fit together.
We expect five mobile trends to accelerate in 2027:
Unified accounts. Customers increasingly expect one identity rather than separate registrations.
Unified wallets and rewards. Loyalty will increasingly work across different product categories.
Location-aware interfaces. Apps will activate or hide products automatically according to jurisdiction.
Cross-product personalization. Sports, casino and trading behavior can potentially feed one recommendation ecosystem.
Modular compliance. Regulation will increasingly determine functionality inside an app rather than simply whether the entire app is available.
That changes how CasinoAppReview believes we should think about the term "casino app."
Conclusion: Fanatics May Be Showing Us the Post-Casino App
The most important feature of Fanatics Sports & Casino is not sportsbook betting, casino gaming or prediction markets individually.
It is the layer connecting them.
One account.
One loyalty currency.
One mobile interface.
Multiple regulatory systems.
Different functionality depending on location.
And a broader commercial ecosystem extending into merchandise, tickets and collectibles.
The conventional casino app was designed to bring the casino onto a smartphone.
The emerging super app is designed to bring the customer's entire sports, gambling and trading relationship into one ecosystem.
That can make mobile gambling dramatically more convenient.
It can also make gambling platforms more powerful, more data-rich and potentially more difficult for customers to disengage from.
For 2027, CasinoAppReview therefore expects the industry's app battle to evolve.
The question may no longer be which operator has the best casino app.
It may be which operator can build the best regulated gambling ecosystem inside a single app.
